Eco-Centric

I remember in my early 20’s on a university study trip I discovered my love of moss and fern life. The incredible ecosystem within such a small world. My love and fascination has never ceased, though my life moved on in search of what I was called to do. What is it that I can do in this huge world. I have fulfilled many roles in my life and all of them have brought joy, love, depth and understanding.

But how I wish that I had been able to enter further study and learning of this incredible moss and fern world. How would my life have been if when I had pushed the door, if I had the confidence to push harder. When I look back at that time I do not remember there being much support to really know where to investigate further a career. I wish that the door would have been there for me to walk through in those years of my 20s. Universities, colleges and schools are doing a great job now to really develop this area and have whole teams dedicated to career advice. The government are encouraging apprenticeships. Perhaps as a community we are moving toward sharing our passions and careers to enable the young to learn from us. I hope so.

My late husband, Asher Mahmood, loved helping people consider work roles and his role in life was education and inspiring, loving and holding others to be who they really are in this world.

Eco- centric is a term coined by Bill Plotkin and it shares such a deep understanding of ones place in the world, the earth world the universe world even. To make a difference, to really be empowered, to find ones place means to make a mark in the ecological world to support and be apart of it in a way that blesses and supports for generations to come no matter how small it may seem the impact is felt and nutures the world today, tomorrow and world in the future. How can you support and love, empower and inspire for good. To find your niche is to find your ecological niche and use your place in the world to fulfill your own calling. To find your eco-centric place rather than your ego-centric place.
